Busting myths about how we work.
I chat to Lauren Kress, Business Scientist on her podcast The Oyster about the way we work during this chat.
Some of the most interesting lessons about leadership I learnt in the Australia Army were about culture. In this 30 minute podcast, we chat about how team cultures that support remote work and flexibility make for innovative and inclusive workplaces.
The best leaders understand that remote work and flexibility can unlock talent, increase diversity and improve inclusion within their teams. Encouraging your teammates to focus on how and what they each contribute to the team – rather than where they do it – allows you to solve problems and get work done in entirely new ways.
Dauntless leaders focus on team culture before anything else.
Culture is not an activity or an offsite event which can be completed and then marked as ‘done’. It takes vigilance and effort to nurture and grow a culture which will help your people and your business to thrive. Leaders know their team will succeed when:
- Their teammates feel safe to be themselves at work,
- The team deal respectfully, honestly and directly with each other, and
- Trust is at the centre of all they do.
Innovative, inclusive leaders challenge long-held beliefs, systems and habits. They spend their time busting myths about how we work best.
